Lyrics
At Jericho
Jericho: A Choice Between Two Worlds
Verse
The Jordan crossed, they made their way,
the promised land drew near;
But Jericho still barred the way,
the walls were dark and sheer.
Then God declared what they must do,
His word would lead them on;
By faith they followed, firm and true,
and trusted Him alone.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
Verse
Within the city, Rahab knew
the mighty deeds she'd heard;
Believed the living Lord was true,
and trusted in His word.
She bound the scarlet cord in sight,
and gathered all her kin;
She left doomed Jericho for light,
and God received her in.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
Verse
But Ache-kan chose forbidden spoil,
the robe, the silver, gold;
He hid the silver deep in soil,
what God forbade to hold.
Then High-uhl raised the walls again,
and built the gates once more;
His sons both died; the curse remained,
as God had warned before.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
Verse
At Jericho, one beggar cried,
and begged the Lord for light;
The crowd rebuked; he louder cried,
and Jesus gave him sight.
Zacchaeus climbed a tree to see,
as Jesus passed through town;
At Jericho, grace set him free,
laid half his riches down.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
Verse
The road ran down to Jericho,
a man lay beaten there;
The priest and Levite left him low,
a stranger showed him care.
At Jericho, two pathways part,
this world, and one beyond;
The present world can claim the heart,
but faith can break the bond.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
Bridge
The latter city soon shall rise,
in purple, scarlet, gold;
Her treasures charm the watching eyes,
till hearts grow hard and cold.
A final warning through her rings,
Come out, My people, flee;
For judgment soon her downfall brings,
the Lamb shall set them free.
Chorus
This world shall pass; His dawn draws near,
the King stands at the door;
Come out, come out; His voice rings clear,
and share her sins no more.
